Reminder: 2012-13 OAKS Online Test Window Opens November 6, 2012

The 2012-13 OAKS Online test window opens on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Between November 6 and January 2, 2013, each student will have access to only one test opportunity per subject. Additional opportunities will become available as of January 2. New for 2012-13, students in grades 3 – 8 will have a total of two test opportunities per subject; students in high school will retain three test opportunities in Math, Reading, and Science and two test opportunities in the optional Social Sciences assessment. Also new for 2012-13, districts may only retest students in grades 3 – 8 who have already met or exceeded the achievement standard for their grade if the district first receives explicit parental consent. The requirements for receiving parental consent are described on p. 33 of the Test Administration Manual.

To help districts coordinate appropriate testing practices, p. 32 of the Test Administration Manual contains guidance on establishing school-imposed test windows. In addition, the Best Practices Guide contains guidance on appropriately scheduling test administration and decision-making regarding retest opportunities.
