| New Flexibility in Assigning Cohort Years |
In response to district concerns about graduation rates and essential skill requirements, ODE has adopted a policy, effective now, to allow districts increased flexibility when assigning a cohort year to a student entering their district who was previously homeschooled or resident outside the US. This policy applies only to students who have no documented high school enrollment prior to enrolling as a high school student in an Oregon public school or school district. See the complete policy for details and instructions on appealing the cohort year for currently enrolled students under this new policy.
Note that this policy does not require districts to change their method of cohort year assignment for the affected students. It is intended only to provide additional options for cohort year assignments. |
