Assigning Test Administration Codes to Assessment Records

District test coordinators should be sure to assign test administration codes, if applicable, to assessment test records to reflect special testing conditions for students. Use the Student Centered Staging application to add the test administration codes to the assessment test records. Be sure to reference the table of the test administration codes found on Page J-2 (Appendix J) of the 2011-12 Test Administration Manual: www.ode.state.or.us/wma/teachlearn/testing/admin/2011-12-tam.pdf PDF.

When assigning the correct test administration code, it is especially important to review closely the definitions of the test administration codes. For example, Test Administration Code 6 indicates a code that will exempt home schooled or foreign exchange students from participation on required OAKS assessments. The Code 6 can only be used for a student registered with the local ESD as home schooled or a foreign exchange or out-of-state student, and cannot be used to exempt any other conditions for students such as exempting a student from Math participation when a Math class was not taken.

Also look at the ELPA assessments to ensure students on IEPs that were exempted from one or more domains are indicated with a test administration code (A to Q), which will trigger a flag for ODE to rescore the ELPA test. If a student on an IEP was exempted for all ELPA test domains, the test will be considered invalid.
