The Oregon Department of Education Child Nutrition Programs (ODE CNP) 2012 Annual Training for Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) Head Start Sponsors will be on the morning of April 4, 2012. The Annual Training is being held in collaboration with the Head Start Association Conference held in Eagle Crest, April 4-6, 2012. This training is scheduled as a pre-conference session before the Head Start Association Specialists Conference to encourage networking between Head Start CACFP staff; to provide CACFP training more suited to the needs of Head Start sponsors; and to encourage a closer relationship with the Head Start Association.

CACFP Annual Training
CACFP annual training for Head Start Sponsors is from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on April 4, 2012. The focus will be on:

  1. USDA Child Care Wellness Grant
  2. Medical Statements and written requests for non-dairy beverages
  3. Site monitoring reviews
  4. CACFP Civil Rights requirements with Winston Cornwall
  5. CACFP Update

Participants must pre-register with ODE CNP to attend the CACFP session. Please register by mail or fax using the enclosed ODE CNP Registration Form PDF Document . The completed ODE/CNP registration form must reach our office by March 9, 2012.

CACFP Annual Training is mandatory for all sponsors. The training received at this conference will meet the annual mandatory training requirements for Head Start sponsors.

ODE CNP requires sponsor staff members who manage and coordinate the CACFP to attend the training. The CACFP Food Program Coordinator must attend the CACFP training session for the sponsor to receive credit for participation. The person responsible for completing the Renewal and Annual Update may also benefit from attending the training.

If a Head Start sponsor CACFP Food Program Coordinator does not attend this training, he/she will be required to participate in the CACFP Annual Training later this year.

Failure to attend this training or meet the CACFP Annual Mandatory Training session in the current Federal fiscal year will result in your organization being categorized as “seriously deficient” per Federal Regulation 7 CFR 226.6 (c).

This training will not review basic program operations and requirements.
