Spring Writing Test Windows

The spring Online Writing test window opens on Monday, March 26. The spring paper-based Writing test window opens on Wednesday, April 11. Districts that ordered spring paper-based writing tests will receive their shipment of secure materials between April 2 and April 4. This shipment will include both English and Spanish tests. Districts must ensure that all secure test materials are stored in a secure area in accordance with Part IV – Test Security of the 2011-12 Test Administration Manual. Remember to keep all boxes in which your shipment arrives for use in returning completed Writing tests for scoring.

Districts will receive a return kit in a separate shipment by Thursday, May 3, 2012. This return kit will include return mailing labels, a return checklist, and an overage certification form. Districts submitting non-precoded “overage” booklets for scoring must sign this form and include it with their shipment certifying that overage booklets were only used to test eligible Grade 11 students who had not previously taken and passed the High School Writing test.

Based on legislative action, the 2011-12 Writing Performance Assessment will only be offered for students currently enrolled in Grade 11 who have not already taken and passed the assessment. In addition, please remember that students who participated in the Winter Writing window (either online or paper/pencil) may not participate in the Spring Writing Window.
