| Transition Suggestions: Movement from Assessing Oregon's 2000 Standards to Oregon's Common Core State Standards |
Beginning in the 2014-2015 school year, Oregon students will be assessed in mathematics and English language arts (including Reading and Writing) with the Smarter Assessment aligned with the Common Core State Standards. Until then OAKS will be based on the content standards adopted before 2010 (See article, No Content or Cut Score Changes for OAKS in 2012-2013). In 2010, ODE provided Crosswalks between Oregon’s content standards and the new Common Core State Standards.
Based on detailed information from the mathematics crosswalk, ODE is developing documents mapping the “movement” of mathematics content. These will be released in May, 2012 along with similar documents for English language assessments.
