Onscreen Calculators in OAKS Online for Mathematics and Science

The OAKS Online assessments for mathematics and science include online calculators. The calculator may be selected by clicking the button at the bottom left of the screen in each item. Grades 3-5 have a four-function calculator; grades 6-8, and high school have a scientific/graphing calculator. Students are able to choose either “scientific” or “graphing” each time they select to use one. ODE recommends that students try the Practice tests and learn to use these calculators before using them on the OAKS summative test. Using Mozilla as the browser, access these practice tests at https://oakspt.tds.airast.org/student/.

Also, remember that students may continue to use either classroom or personal calculators as in the past. They should use the same calculator on OAKS that they use for their classroom work.

If you have any questions, please contact Jim Leigh, Mathematics Assessment Specialist at James.Leigh@state.or.us eMail.
