| Essential Skills Assessment Overviews Available |
Overview workshops on assessing the Essential Skills of reading, writing and mathematics are available for local districts to use with a variety of audiences. The workshops, which have been updated for 2011-12, provide basic information on the requirements and options for demonstrating proficiency in each Essential Skill to meet diploma requirements. They are appropriate for use with teachers, other district staff, local school board members, parents and community groups. Each workshop has a PowerPoint presentation, facilitator’s materials and a ready-to-print participant's packet. They may be downloaded from the ODE web site at http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=219 by selecting the subject area and going to Resources and Promising Practices in each menu. Facilitator training in presenting the workshops is available via WebEx on August 23 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm PDT or on September 20 or October 5 from 3:00 to 4:00 pm PDT.
