AYP Substantive Appeals Due August 19, 2011

A district may appeal the results of the 2011 Preliminary Adequate Yearly Progress Report either on its own behalf or on behalf of its schools. ODE will consider substantive appeals for AYP designations when the district submits the following:
  • The written request from the school district superintendent or the superintendent’s designee is received at the Oregon Department of Education within 18 calendar days of the public release of preliminary AYP reports;
  • The school is determined to not meet AYP based on unique events that could not be predicted and/or controlled by the school or district; and
  • The data issue contributing to the substantive appeal could not otherwise be remedied through district corrections of the related data.

Appeals will only be accepted through email to cynthia.yee@state.or.us eMail or U.S. mail to 255 Capitol St NE Salem, OR 97310 Attn: Cynthia Yee - AYP Appeals. Appeals sent by fax will not be accepted.

Appeals are due to ODE no later than Friday, August 19, 2011, 12:00 PM. Please note: If you are sending your appeal by U.S. mail, it must arrive by noon on August 19. Post-marks will not be accepted.
