This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps students meet state and local standards in core academic subjects, such as reading and math; offers students a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs; and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children. Eligible entities include, but are not limited to, school districts, education service districts, community and faith-based organizations. Schools and community organizations are encouraged to apply as partners. o The 21st CCLC 2009 request for proposals and application are posted on the ODE website at http://www.ode.state.or.us/go/21cclc. The 21st CCLC application has been revised since previous competitions, so applicants should make sure they download the 2009 grant application. Completed grant applications must be received at ODE by 5 p.m. April 17. Successful proposals will be funded as of July 1, 2009.
