State Board of Education October Actions
Below are actions taken by the State Board of Education at their October meeting:

  • Adopted the Common Core State Standards
  • Raised the Math Achievement & Extended Achievement Standards (cut scores)
  • Adopted the Achievement and Extended Achievement Level Descriptors
  • Adopted the staff recommendation to not sponsor the KNOVA Beaverton Charter School
  • Adopted August 17-19, 2010 minutes
  • Adopted August 30, 2010 minutes
  • Approved the Commissioner’s travel
  • Approved Board Subcommittees, Work Group, Liaison Assignments
  • Approved assignment of Director Berger to Community College Governance work group
  • Community College Program Approvals:
    -Central Oregon Community College: Addiction Studies & Counseling (Associate of Applied Science Degree)
    -Portland Community College: Design for Accessibility and Aging in Place (Certificate of Completion)
  • Approved the Second (World) Languages Instructional Materials
  • Repealed the Charter School Revolving Loan Fund OAR 581-020-0350
  • Revised the Board Charter School Sponsorship Policy Revision
  • Approved the revised Form & Protocol for Sports Physical Exams OAR 581-021-0041
  • Approved the International School of the Cascades asset distribution
  • Granted the Portland Village Charter School Waiver request
  • Approved the Evaluating Student Transcripts OAR 581-021-0210 Approved revisions to the Private Career School Rules: OAR 581-045-0014; -0018; -0019; -0032; -0062
  • Supported the continued work on the community college growth management issue
  • Decided to reopen OAR 581-022-0421, Safety of School Sports - Concussions
