Which Content Standards Are Being Tested This Year?

As content standards are reviewed and updated, OAKS assessments follow a procedure to assure that students have adequate opportunity to learn any new material before it appears on the test. As a result, OAKS tests first include newly adopted content standards about 1½ to 2 years later, depending on the nature of the change.

For 2010-11 OAKS Assessments the following Content Standards will be tested:
  • The Reading/Literature Assessment is based on the Grade Level Content Standards adopted in 2002-2003.
  • The Mathematics test is based on the Content Standards adopted in 2009 for high school and 2007 for grades K-8.
  • The Science test is based on the Content Standards adopted in 2001. Note: The 2011-12 OAKS Science test will be based on the Content Standards adopted in 2009.
  • The Writing Performance Assessment is based on the Grade Level Content Standards adopted in 2002-2003.
  • The optional Social Sciences Assessment is based on the Content Standards adopted in 2001.

More specific information about the achievement standards for each assessment may be found here PDF.
