| Common Core State Standards Initiative |
| The Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI) is a joint effort by the National Governors Association Center for Best Practices (NGA Center) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO) in partnership with Achieve, ACT and the College Board. Governors and state commissioners of education from 48 states, including Oregon, have committed to this state-led process to develop a common core of state standards in English language arts and mathematics.
Currently, every state has its own set of academic standards. Common standards will create consistent expectations for students across all states and territories; helping to support students who transition between states while also preparing students with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed and compete globally. To learn more about the CCSSI and Oregon’s involvement, visit ODE’s CCSSI web page at http://www.ode.state.or.us/search/page/?id=2860. In addition to information about this project, this page provides a link to the CCSSI site and an email address to provide ODE with feedback on the Common Core standards. |
