Writing will not be used as an element of AYP designations. Writing scores will
remain an element of report card ratings. Because participation is reflected in
the School Characteristics report card rating, district staff should continue to
correct any errors in student writing assessment records and should work to clear
any concerns regarding participation in the writing assessments. For questions on
