HB 2263 & HB 3600 required ODE to select a nationally norm-referenced test to give information about students’ prospects for success in college. ODE is to pay the cost for the tests, and districts must offer students the opportunity to test. Students must also continue to take Oregon's Statewide Assessments to meet federal and state testing requirements.
After a competitive bid process, The College Board, developer of the PSAT/NMSQT has been named as the apparent winning proposer. If negotiations are successful, a contract will be offered to the College Board. Additional information will be available soon. Currently, a series of FAQ’s can be found at http://www.ode.state.or.us/apps/faqs/index.aspx?=145. Districts may want to pencil in the 2008 PSAT/NMSQT test dates of Wednesday, October 15 and Saturday, October 18.
