| Science Instructional Resources Added to REAL |
As part of the Oregon Department of Education’s ongoing commitment to expanding the resources included in the REAL web site, ODE is pleased to announce that materials are now available in science. Like math and English language arts, three types of items can be found associated with science standards: content background, sample lessons, and sample assessment items.
Sample lessons are linked to REAL from outside sources. Some lessons also include explicit modeling of the skill or strategy being taught or offer interactive technology to enhance or extend learning. Assessment items are available in two forms: NAEP Sample Questions and Sample Items Similar to Statewide Assessment. NAEP Sample Questions are released test items from the National Assessment of Educational Progress and are available for standards in grades 5 and 8. Sample Items Similar to Statewide Assessment are released test items from the Oregon Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (OAKS). These items are available at grades 5, 8 and CIM. The number of resources available for science will continue to grow during the 2007-08 school year. To access these resources visit the REAL website at www.ode.state.or.us/teachlearn/real/tlr.
