A visual impairment is an impairment that, even with correction, adversely affects a child's educational performance. The term includes those children who are partially sighted or blind.

Regional Programs
Regional programs, in collaboration with local school districts, Early Intervention, Early Childhood Special Education (EI/ECSE) programs, families, and community agencies, provide specialized educational support for children with hearing impairments, vision impairments, autism spectrum disorders, severe orthopedic impairments, and deafblindness. Services to children with low-incidence disabilities are provided through eight regional contractors around the state. American Printing House for the Blind 
The mission of APH is to promote the independence of blind and visually impaired persons by providing specialized materials, products, and services needed for education and life.
The Core Curriculum for Blind and Visually Impaired Students, Including Those with Additional Disabilities 
This curriculum, prepared in response to goals of the National Agenda, incorporates basic subjects and adds the expanded core curriculum for visually impaired students.
National Agenda for the Education of Children and Youths with Visual Impairments, Including Those with Multiple Disabilities 
The Agenda has been created by parents, professionals, and adults with visual impairments who have a passion for making education services for children with visual impairments and blindness better. The Agenda is hosted by the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
