							CTE Revitalization Grant  - Call for Grant Proposal Reviewers

							The Oregon Department of Education (ODE) is seeking volunteers to serve as grant proposal reviewers.  Ideally, reviewers will come from a variety of backgrounds - business, industry, education, labor - and from a wide range of experiences - partnerships, equity, sustainability, counseling, etc.  ODE staff will attempt to match grant proposals to reviewer expertise.  Reviewers will receive reimbursement for travel expenses at per diem rates.

Requirements:
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Access to computer, internet and phone.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Expertise and time to review 3-8 proposals.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Participation in online training from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm on Friday, November 1 OR Monday, November 4, 2013.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;All-day attendance at a meeting in Salem, Oregon on Thursday, November 14, 2013.&lt;/li&gt;

							CTE Program Update 2013-14

							The CTE Program Update is the required annual method for high schools and CTE Regional Coordinators to reconcile local and state records concerning details of every state approved CTE Program.

This is the time to propose revisions/updates to the CTE programs offered in the 2013-14 academic year.  Every approved CTE program must be reviewed and submitted by schools to their CTE Regional Coordinator and then to ODE even if no changes are necessary.
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt; To maintain state-approval and/or remain eligible for Perkins grant funding, CTE programs must contain specific design elements and content and include a seamless integration of secondary and postsecondary components. Therefore, to assure continued compliance, high school or district personnel are expected to consult with their postsecondary partner(s) and their CTE Regional Coordinator or Perkins Grant Manager regarding anticipated changes to any approved CTE program when submitting changes.

							The purpose of the CTE Revitalization Grant Advisory Committee is to provide recommendations to Oregon Department of Education staff regarding the grant guidelines, review, and oversight needed in order to implement the CTE Revitalization Grant.   The first meeting of the CTE Revitalization Grant Advisory Committee will be July 23, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Oregon Capitol Building – Conference Room 350.  The Oregon Capitol is located at 900 Court Street NE in Salem.

The public is welcome to attend  this meeting.  Time for public comments will be from 2:45 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.  Written comments may be submitted for consideration as well.

							&lt;b&gt;SALEM &lt;/b&gt;– Today the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) has opened the next competition for $9.5 million in funds for 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) grants. This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps students meet state and local standards in core academic subjects such as reading and math, provides students with a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs, and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children.
