Departments of Justice, Education, and Health and Human Services Issue Letter to Health-Related Schools Regarding Hepatitis B Discrimination

The Department of Justice, the Department of Education, and the Department of Health and Human Services issued a joint letter to the nation’s medical schools, dental schools, nursing schools, and other health-related schools regarding hepatitis B discrimination.

In the joint letter, the departments express concern that some health-related schools may be making enrollment decisions based on an incorrect understanding of the hepatitis B virus, resulting in discrimination.

Smarter Balanced and Oregon are seeking 85 K-12 educators who have significant experience in formative assessment and deep knowledge of English Language Arts/Literacy and Mathematics Common Core State Standards (CCSS) to join Oregon's State Network of Educators and help review professional learning resources for the Smarter Balanced Digital Library.

Webinar to Address Managing Student Loan Debt April 30, 2013

An April 30 webinar will provide tips and tools to help college seniors and young workers learn to budget for today's needs and tomorrow's goals. "Start Early to Take Charge of Your Financial Future" will be held from 3-4 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, April 30. The U.S. Department of Education's Federal Student Aid office is co-hosting the webinar with the U.S. Department of Labor's Employee Benefits Security Administration and the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards as part of the Financial Literacy and Education Commission's Starting Early Campaign.
