							U.S. Department of Education Charter Schools Program Announces Two Competitions for Non-SEA Applicants

							The U.S. Department of Education&apos;s Charter Schools Program (CSP) has just announced two new Non-State Educational Agency (Non-SEA) grant competitions for 2013. Applications for both competitions are due &lt;b&gt;July 12, 2013.&lt;/b&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;
The CSP’s Non-SEA Planning, Program Design, and Implementation competition (84.282B) provides grants directly to charter school developers so they can plan, design, and complete the initial implementation of their school. The Non-SEA Dissemination competition (84.282C) provides grants directly to existing public charter schools, which they can use to assist other schools in adapting the charter school program (or certain aspects of the charter schools’ program) or to disseminate information about the charter school.

The content is tailored to the needs of those new in their position or for a newly approved charter school. 							New Round of 21st Century Community Learning Center Grants Available

							&lt;b&gt;SALEM &lt;/b&gt;– Today the Oregon Department of Education (ODE) has opened the next competition for $9.5 million in funds for 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) grants. This program supports the creation of community learning centers that provide academic enrichment opportunities during non-school hours for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low-performing schools. The program helps students meet state and local standards in core academic subjects such as reading and math, provides students with a broad array of enrichment activities that can complement their regular academic programs, and offers literacy and other educational services to the families of participating children. 
&lt;br/&gt;&lt;br/&gt;

Eligible entities include, but are not limited to, school districts, education service districts, community colleges, faith-based and community organizations, charter schools and city and county agencies.
