Industrial and Engineering Systems Skill Sets
The Industrial and Engineering Systems Career Learning Area relates to the technologies used to design, develop, install, operate, maintain and upgrade physical systems. These include, but are not limited to, engineering and related design technologies, mechanical systems, manufacturing technologies, precision production, construction, electrical systems and electronics and information technologies. People in this field use academic and technological knowledge and skills to design, build, inspect, deliver, maintain, and repair aircraft, automobiles, buildings, computer equipment, roads, bridges and manufacturing machinery.

Manufacturing Systems Focus Area
Industrial Engineers - Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.

Industrial Safety and Health Engineers - Plan, implement, and coordinate safety programs, requiring application of engineering principles and technology, to prevent or correct unsafe environmental working conditions.

The Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Focus Area has been renamed as part of the 2010 Skill Set Revision. Please check the Oregon Skill Sets webpage often for updates and additional information.
